In the dynamic world of workforce management, flexibility is often the key to success. Recognizing this, our platform offers a valuable feature that empowers both your internal team and candidates: the ability to apply for and work only part of a shift. This feature opens up new opportunities for candidates and ensures that shifts are filled, even when a candidate can't commit to the full duration.

The first step to harnessing the power of split shifts is to grant the platform permission to utilize this functionality.

Here's how to enable it:

1. Configuration: Navigate to the Configuration menu within your platform.

2. Business Model: Select "Business Model" from the options.

3. Split Shifts: Within the Business Model section, locate "Split Shifts" and choose the configuration rules that best suit your needs. There are three options to consider:

  • On: Enabling this option means that the split shifts feature will be applied to all orders placed on the platform by default.

  • Decide: Opting for "Decide" grants clients and your internal team the flexibility to choose whether to utilize this feature on a case-by-case basis. This option can be found under the "Schedule" tab when placing an order.

  • Off: Choosing "Off" disables the split shifts feature entirely.

Important Note: Split shifts are specifically designed for short-term orders.

Applying for Split Shifts:

When split shifts are enabled for an order, candidates gain the ability to specify the hours they can work. Here's how candidates can apply for split shifts:

1. Candidate's Opportunities Page: Candidates will access their opportunities page, where they will find an "Edit" button, represented by a pencil icon.

2. Input Start and End Time: By clicking "Edit," candidates can input their preferred start and end times, indicating the portion of the shift they are available for.

3. Submission: Once the candidate has specified their availability, they can submit their request to work. This information will be displayed within the order under the "Applicants" tab.

Assigning Candidates with Partial Applications:

For your internal team, managing candidates who have applied for only part of a shift is made easy:

1. Badge Indicator: When your internal team goes to assign a candidate to a shift, they will see a badge that clearly indicates a "Partial Application." This helps your team identify candidates who are available for only a portion of the shift. Clicking on this badge will display what times the candidate has shared they are available to work.

2. Managing Shifts: If an order initially had three shifts, for example, and one candidate with a partial application is assigned, the number of shifts will be reduced to two. To ensure all shifts are filled, your internal team can add additional shifts to cover the remaining hours as needed.

By enabling the split shifts feature on your platform, you enhance the flexibility of your workforce management process. This feature not only accommodates candidates with varying availability but also ensures that shifts are efficiently staffed, contributing to the success of your staffing operations. Embrace the power of flexibility and efficient shift management with split shifts today!
