Managing Availability and Time Off

Time management is essential in today’s fast-paced world, and for candidates to receive relevant notifications from the platform they need to be able to manage their availability for jobs and add time off if need be.

The candidate can click on View Availability in the main menu on their profile picture, and they will see a calendar view with their availability. They can manually block out times during the days by clicking on the date and setting the times that they are not available. They can also give a reason.

To add availability on their calendar, they just have to click on the day they would like to show they are available, and then in the pop up box they can select the jobs that they are available to work for. Click submit and the calendar shows a green checkmark on that date. The platform will “auto-apply” for any opportunities for those job types on that date on behalf of that candidate, even if the order was placed before the availability was submitted. These shifts will be applied for within 5-10 minutes of the availability being submitted

If the candidate wants to block out multiple days, for example they may be taking a vacation, or do not want to work weekends, then they can use the form above the calendar and simply pick the dates from a pop-up calendar, and provide a reason for their unavailability.

It is important to note that if a candidate is unavailable for an entire job order, then they will not receive notifications as this will be considered conflicting, just as if the candidate has an assigned shift.

If a candidate is unavailable for part of a job order but free for the rest of it, this can have an effect on their ranking for the job order. For example, if a job order comes in and the candidate is only available for 1 out of 3 days, then this will negatively impact their ranking for this order, and depending on how the batching works for notifications, they may or may not be notified for this job order. Additionally, if a candidate is unavailable for example only in the morning, and a job order comes in starting in the afternoon, then they will still receive a notification for that job order--as their schedule is not in conflict.

The candidate can amend their availability at any time by deleting manually blocked times from this calendar, therefore now becoming again available for jobs on that date and time, and will therefore receive notifications. If they have said they were available and no longer wish to auto-apply, they can click on the green checkmark to disable that action. You as an admin can also make changes to a candidate’s availability.

You will also notice that any shifts that a candidate has already been assigned to will automatically be set as unavailable, and they cannot override this. However, you as an admin will be able to make changes to dates that have been blocked out due to job shifts.

We hope this will help your candidates to manage their time and availability more efficiently, and thereby be effectively notified of jobs when and if relevant.
